We turned off the A836 to have a look at Sandside Bay. It has a sandy beach and some people were out walking their dogs on it BUT we read the signs near the toilet block and decided to just look from a distance! "Radioactive contamination in the form of metallic particles have been found on this beach." Across the bay we could see the Dounreay nuclear power plant.
